Within NÓNIO there are several logbooks installed, in compliance with regulations, which allows crews to save time and money by cutting down on paperwork and duplicates. The following logbooks can be found:
- Voyage logbook, register details of the port call as well as stability data, as the freeboard, draught, etc.
- Main Engine logbook, where parameters, as the temperature and pressure of the main engine pistons, auxiliary engine room machinery, etc. can be registered.
- Equipment logbook, where measures of interest of a given equipment can be monitored
Logbooks are a legal requirement for merchant vessels and for yachts over 24 metres, for which certain commercial criteria apply.
Large amounts of logbooks are legally required: Deck Logbook; Engine Logbook; Oil Record Book; Dynamic Positioning Logbook, Security Logbook, etc…..
This bureaucratic burden leads to large amounts of data where, typically, no inference “knowledge” is taken.
Electronic logbooks besides having the merit to lighten the data registration, allows knowledge to be taken from the overall data collection.
